Most teams know to watch SSL certificates — but domain registration expiry is a separate and equally catastrophic risk. When a domain registration lapses, the domain goes offline entirely. No website, no email, no DNS — and potentially, a third party registers it before you do.
DomainCat tracks both independently. The SSL expiry column shows days until the cert expires. The domain expiry column shows days until the domain registration renews. Both can have independent alert thresholds, and both show up in the same dashboard so nothing slips through the gap between two different tools.
A lapsed domain is worse than an expired cert. An expired SSL shows a browser warning — visitors can still reach you. A lapsed domain registration means your domain is gone, and rebuilding trust and search rankings after a domain hijacking can take months.
WHOIS & RDAP Integration — No Manual Lookups
For every domain you add, DomainCat automatically queries the authoritative WHOIS server for that TLD. For newer TLDs like .app, .dev, and .io where WHOIS has been replaced, DomainCat falls back to RDAP automatically.
You get the registrar name, registration date, and expiry date — without logging into any registrar dashboard or running a whois command manually. It all updates on every check cycle.
